Opposing political camps rally in Yemen while protesters vent anger after prayers in Egypt, Jordan, Iraq and Bahrain. Friday's protests were organised mainly through social networking site Facebook, echoing mass rallies mobilised by youths through social media which unseated Tunisia and Egypt's long-ruling heads of state.Thousands of Iraqis have taken to the streets across the country to protest against corruption and a lack of basic services in an organised nationwide "day of rage", inspired by uprisings around the Arab world.

Wednesday 26th October, a court in Baghdad sentenced Tareq Aziz to death who was deputy prime minister during the government of Saddam Hussein, for his role in the participation in the violent repression of the Shiite uprising in southern Iraq in 1990 in which there was thousands of victims.

On October the 1st was held the Fourth Nonviolence Week in the city of Basra (Iraq) within the framework of the joint project between NoVa and LaOnf (visit: http://noviolencia.nova.cat/ca/projecte/iniciativa-laonfpotenciacio-de-les-capacitats-de-prevencio-i-resolucio-de-conflictes-de-les). The Union of Iraqi Writers was the space where this Nonviolence Week took place and those present at the holding were activists, academicians and a collective of intellectuals, who exposed their opinion about how important it is to build a nonviolence group in the city of Basra as well as to inform and involve civil society in the struggle for nonviolence.

The Congreso (Spanish parliament) approved yesterday the reform of the Organic Law of Judicial Power, which is a major constraint for the Spanish judges apply the principles underlying universal jurisdiction, ie, pursue the impunity of the most serious crimes.
